"Yoga does not remove us from the reality or responsibilities of everyday life but rather places our feet firmly and resolutely in the practical ground of experience. We don't transcend our lives; we return to the life we left behind in the hopes of something better.” Donna Farhi

About Gemma

Gemma Deeney returned to Ireland from Hong Kong in 2004, where she spent a very important and interesting part of her life as a Reebok Master Trainer, specialising in Reebok disciplines such as Reebok Martial Arts, Reebok Exercise to Music, Reebok Flexible Strength, Reebok Core training to mention a few. While she was there she became intrigued with the yoga teachings of Master Kamal (an Indian Master teaching in Hong Kong at the time) and eventually studied and practiced Hatha yoga under his superb guidance.

When fate took her back to Ireland, she began teaching her Master’s techniques here in Dublin, Naas & Blessington. Gemma firmly believes that yoga is not about being flexible. Yoga is about showing up on your mat with no expectations of how it should go. Yoga is a lifestyle with no judgement. Yoga is about self discovery. Yoga is about slowing down and seeing something greater than yourself. Yoga is the ultimate practice of self-compassion and compassion is incomplete unless it includes yourself.

I also work with my colleague and dear friend Patrick Plant who runs his therapy practice in Co. Wicklow, with his daughter Amy. Stay in touch through my website or Facebook feed, for news on combined courses and yoga retreats.
